Rubber Impregnated Chopped Strand

RICS gives added stiffness to rubber and plastic composites leading to greater compression resistance.

RICS is either chopped glass or carbon fibre strand coated with RFL/SBR compatible latex used for adhesion to, and reinforcement of, various rubbers and plastics.

Test results show that stiffness of SBR rubber is doubled by adding just 20 pphr RICS.

RICS brings benefits to applications traditionally reinforced by untreated, chopped glass fibres; by improving dispersion, compaction and bonding.

RICS is also much easier for handling than untreated chopped strand.
